Hey, guys of the Monstrumologist forum (and new fans)!

for-nearly-nameless-nick:

Things have been really slow lately at the forum, but we just got a new member and while meeting her, she and I decided it would be pretty cool to do a group re-read

We decided that it should start at the beginning of each week and go through Saturdays. We would then all log on and discuss what we read, bring up points we found interesting. This will refresh everyone on the materials and generate content to talk about.

Obviously we’ll start with the first book. We’ve decided to read the Foreword through Chapter 4, starting this coming week!

If you want to join in, I’d love it if you popped into the forum and dropped a comment, just so I’ll know how many people are participating.

New fans are completely welcome to join as well! The forum is still painfully small and, sadly, a bit lacking in discussion. We need all the voices we can get.

I will most definitely be doing this.

Like Tea?

How ‘bout some Pellinore Warthrop tea?

Or maybe a cup of Jack Kearns?

Have I told you all lately how much I LOVE The Monstrumologist? I never shut up about this book series, because it is bloody incredible.
This is my attempt at a cover design for the first book. Ink washes and pen linework collaged together in photoshop. Did two versions, not sure which is better, would appreciate opinions. I’ll post the other separately, because they look weird side by side.
If you haven’t heard of the books, they’re part historical fiction, part horror, with somewhat of a scientific approach. The horror element of the books is insane, it’s so intense that I’m surprised it’s in a young adult novel, but what I really love about the series is the characters and the relationships between them.
If you haven’t looked into them, please do. These books are too good to fly under the radar.

for-nearly-nameless-nick asked: How did you find the Monstrumologist forum? Do you know who's running it?

The Monstrumologist forum was shared by Rick Yancey on Facebook. I don’t know who runs it, but I assume it would be username Finnick_is_smexy. I don’t know a lot about it (obviously, there aren’t a whole lot of posts…) but… it’s a forum!

Perhaps I’ll make a master list of the tumblr people who are also participating in the forum, if it takes off.

The Monstrumologist Soundtrack - “Theme” (Craving Monster Records)

Music from the mentioned Sims 2 series coming this summer.

(Source: http)

So there’s going to be a Sims 2 Monstrumologist series coming this summer. I have to wonder how they’re going to do it. Gotta keep my eye on this one…

So, The Final Descent. As much as we hate it, this is probably going to be the final book in the series. The only thing we can do right now is hope that this thing blows everything out of the water (which will be a tall task—my mind is still pretty blown after The Isle of Blood) but of course, if anyone can do it, Rick Yancey can.
I’m excited.

A letter from Jack the Ripper (the original spelling and grammatical errors are here preserved):
“Dear Boss
I am down on whores and I shant quit ripping them til I do get buckled. Grand work the last job was. I gave the lady no time to squeal. How can they catch me now. I love my work and want to start again. You will soon hear of me with my funny little games. I saved some of the proper red stuff in a ginger beer bottle over the last job the write with but it went thick like glue and I cant use it. Red ink is fit enough I hope ha ha. The next job I do I shall clip the ladys ears off and send to the police officers just for jolly wouldn’t you. Keep this letter back till I do a bit more work, then give it out straight, My knife’s so nice and sharp I want to get to work right away if I get a chance. Good Luck. Yours truly
Jack the RIpper
Dont mind me giving the trade name.”

Sounds awfully like Kearns, doesn’t it?
